CPH: Interior Minister

Tasers Dept: Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux has defended the French police s use of Tasers, and said the 38-year-old man was extremely aggressive when officers intervened in Colombes, west of the capital, according to The Star. Stun guns have come under criticism in France. The weapons are used by police around the world and are designed as a non-lethal means to immobilize suspects, though they have been blamed for some deaths. The minister said four officers were injured in the melee between the man, who was an illegal immigrant, and an apartment owner late Monday. An autopsy was underway. As reported in the news.
