Media Interview Dept: In his first media interview since he took the job, Ward Elcock indicated the crackdown on human smugglers is underway, according to CBC. "But I wouldn't be surprised if there were some arrests in the not-too-distant future." Canada's new special adviser on human smuggling and illegal migration says he expects the RCMP will soon make arrests on Canadian soil of those involved in human smuggling to this country. "I think there are likely to be some arrests in Canada, but ... that would be a responsibility of the RCMP and prosecutors in any case," he told News.
