Labour Market Dept: Statistics Canada reported Friday that the city's unemployment dropped from 6.6 per cent in October to 6.1 per cent, according to Calgary Herald. Elsbeth Mehrer, director of research, workforce and strategy at Calgary Economic Development, said the city's labour market is "slowly recovering from the losses that we saw in 2009 and earlier this year and calgary's unemployment rate fell in November, following provincial and national trends. However, there were 2,300 fewer jobs in November compared with the previous month and 11,000 fewer jobs in Calgary on a year-over-year basis.
