IWK Health Centre: Pregnant Patients

Kathleen O Brien Dept: The hospital recently changed its policy about revealing the sex of the baby when pregnant women go for their 20-week obstetrical ultrasound, according to The Chronicle Herald. IWK radiologist Dr. Kathleen O Brien said it was time to make the policy consistent for all pregnant patients and expectant mothers who go for ultrasounds at the IWK Health Centre can now find out their baby s gender through their family doctor. If it s apparent during the scan, the gender is now noted in the report sent to family doctors. Patients who want to find out whether to start buying pink or blue just ask their physician.
