Federal Government Dept: The federal government started the hearing in Montreal with a request to dismiss the injunction before it was heard, based on the fact that the provincial court doesn't have jurisdiction on immigration issues, according to CBC. The Superior Court ordered a stay on his deportation order last week, to allow the legal evaluation of a prior request from the United Nations committee on torture and alleged war criminal Leon Mugesera could be deported Friday if Quebec Superior Court rejects arguments to delay his deportation until the UN competes its investigation on the possibility of torture if he is returned to Rwanda. The judge decided the hearing will proceed as planned.
