Heart Attacks Dept: In a recent letter, Brian Dyer of Karsdale implied that the blood test that was used to diagnose his mild heart attack would no longer be available at Annapolis Community Health Centre and he further stated that this facility was slated to close. This is not true, according to The Chronicle Herald. The emergency department will have the ability to provide bedside lab tests, including the test that diagnoses heart attacks. These test results will be available sooner than traditional blood tests, actually improving the efficiency of the ED. So, once this is in place, a patient who arrives in the ED with chest pain will undergo the blood tests necessary to diagnose a heart attack right in the ED, allowing for a timely and safe assessment of his/her chest pain and services improving The ACHC is not closing and continues to be a vibrant and dynamic health centre, providing care to the people of Annapolis and surrounding areas. The laboratory processing that is currently done in Annapolis will be moving to Valley Regional in the near future. However, the public will continue to have blood drawn at the facility.
