Karin Kirkpatrick Campbell Dept: Karin Kirkpatrick Campbell was commenting on a plan under which Citizenship and Immigration Canada, provincial governments and the national association Languages Canada, are working toward limiting the number of Canadian schools allowed to accept international students, according to Vancouver Sun. Campbell, CEO of the Vancouver-based Private Career Training Institutions Agency PCTIA , said prohibiting some schools from accepting inter-national students would "really change the playing field." A federal proposal to crack down on student visa fraud could put some post-secondary schools out of business, says the CEO of an agency that registers and accredits private career colleges and vocational schools in B.C. Under the new regulations, provinces would submit a list of approved post-secondary institutions. Only properly accredited institutions would be eligible to register foreign students. Officials suspect that students are using student visas to gain entry to Canada and then not showing up for class, but there are no statistics quantifying the problem.
