Fair Market Value Dept: The last of the holdouts now face expropriation by Aug. 22, if they remain unable to negotiate a price. If a deal isn't reached by the deadline the government will decide what the fair market value is for the land, according to CBC. Last week, the first draft of the environmental assessment for the plan to reroute part of the highway around Churchill to Bonshaw was completed and posted online and the provincial government has now acquired all but five of the properties in the path of the new Plan B section of the Trans-Canada Highway, between New Haven and Bonshaw. The rerouting involves 34 private properties, including 10 homes. Transportation Minister Robert Vessey said he is optimistic agreements can be reached with the remaining land owners before the deadline.
