Drive: Food Drive and Adsum House

drive: Knowing there are people in Halifax especially kids that are going to bed hungry, in the spirit of Ramadan, this is the time of year to empathize and give back to the community, according to The Chronicle Herald. So as a Canadian and a Muslim, it's our duty, said El-Darahali. Organizer Asile El-Darahali said the food drive, which raised more than 15,000 in donations last year, aims to help anyone in need irrespective of religion, gender or ethnic background. This year's food drive recipients include Feed Nova Scotia, Bryony House, Metro Turning Point, Adsum House, Phoenix Youth Programs, Parker House and Bayers Westwood Family Resource Centre. People can also donate 20 to the food drive for purchasing and delivering items to local charities. Donors can buy food items including pasta, pasta sauce, can of vegetables, cans of fruit, tuna, or red beans; rice, sugar, salt, oil, cereal, pancake mix, toothpaste and soap.
